Frequently Asked Questions

miniature dun highland heifer
How much does a Circle G miniature calf cost?

Miniature Highland and HighPark calves commonly range from several thousand dollars upward depending on pedigree, size, structure, color, registration qualifications, and overall quality. Our miniature calves typically start around $5,000 and go up from there depending on the factors listed above.

Can I purchase a bottle calf?

We do not sell bottle calves.

Separating a newborn from its mother is stressful and unfair to both cow and calf. Bottle babies are also more likely to develop unsafe behaviors like butting, pushing, kicking, and crowding because they view humans as both herd mates and food sources.

Unless emergency intervention is absolutely necessary, our calves remain with their mothers through early development so they can enjoy the bond, comfort, and security they deserve. During that time, calves are regularly handled and socialized to help prepare them for our gentling program.

What does your calf gentling program include?
All Circle G Mini calves are dam-raised and early-weaned before transitioning into a daily hands-on gentling program focused on calm, confident, people-oriented temperaments. They are halter started, introduced to standing tied, and taught basic pressure-and-release handling to encourage respectful, willing dispositions that are enjoyable and manageable to work with.
how big do miniature cattle get?

Miniature cattle are generally categorized by mature height at the hip. While terminology can vary slightly between breeders and registries, miniature cattle commonly fall into one of three categories: Micro (36″ and under), Miniature (37″– 42″), and Mid-sized (43″ – 48″).

Final mature size is influenced by genetics, nutrition, and management practices, and exact adult height cannot be guaranteed. However, we strive to provide honest and realistic mature size estimates based on genetics and developmental indicators.

Can I come see a calf prior to purchase?

Of course! We happily welcome farm visits for prospective clients, scheduled in advance. For those not local, video calls are also available by appointment so you can see any calf in real time. Please note that we are a working farm and stable, so both in-person and virtual visits are limited to serious buyers and must be scheduled ahead of time.

What is the sale process like?

All sales are completed by written contract. We accept secure, trackable payment options such as PayPal Goods & Services or other verified digital methods, as well as cash and cashier’s checks.  Deposits are required to reserve a calf, with the remaining balance due prior to pickup or transport.

What comes with a Circle G mini Calf?

All of our calves go home with all applicable registration paperwork, and we handle registration transfers on the buyer’s behalf whenever applicable. Buyers also receive copies of each calf’s UC Davis DNA test results, including genetic markers, MC1R, PMEL17, and chondrodysplasia testing. Calves leave with veterinary-issued interstate health documentation required for travel, as well as any vaccinations, testing, and/or lab work required by the destination state. Buyers are also provided with information regarding their calf’s current feeding program and care routine to help support a smooth transition into their new home.

Do you offer transport?

Buyers are welcome to arrange pickup themselves or hire a third-party livestock transporter. We are happy to recommend and help coordinate with transporters and provide any legally required vaccinations and health documentation for interstate travel.
